Welcome to Black Kryptonite Customs
Custom 8" Mego scale heads and more.

January 16th, 2008 - Hot out the molds!  Have a look at my latest creation/modifications.

On the left if my modified He-Man torso and on the right is what I call the Heroic crotch or pelvis.  The torso, as you can tell, has the shoulders built up on the tops to better accommodate upper arms.  Because the shoulder sockets are angled up normally the torso only works best with really big arms but now this beauty will gladly take standard type 2 biceps, LJN Swivel biceps AND the larger wrestler swivel biceps.  Pretty kick ass.  I also modified the neck area so it will more easily accept a standard Mego neck plug will much less effort, as well as the Flatt style necks.  As for the pelvis, I was tired of seeing these really awesome beefy customs coming out with a flat package so I did a little surgery and now our men can look like men instead of tuck jobs:)  Both of these items are now proudly for purchase, and both come hollow and ready to go without the hassle of having to spend all that time and effort dremeling out a solid chunk of resin.  thanks for looking folks, and be sure to check back here and over at the Mego Museum for more updates from Black Kryptonite's closet!
January 13th, 2008 - Well it's 2008.  Hopefully this year will bring better fortune than the past few years for me.  If not, I would just rather pass on it.  I've been getting emails from a few of you asking where I've been and showing concern for my absence at some of the forums I frequent.  Sorry people, my intentions have not been to avoid any of you, and I'm definitely not mad at anyone.  On a personal note I'm in a bit financial turmoil so I've been laying low and trying to focus on ways to get out of this rut.  Unfortunately there's not solution to it short of winning the lottery or having some rich guy hook me up.  So I'm left to my own devices which are about to include a form of begging.  Something I'm not accustom to doing, however it's become a reality I have to face.  In short, I owe the IRS some cashola and they've started coming down on me hard because according to them, THEY ARE NOT A BANK.  So any payment I send them that doesn't include the entire amount is penalized to the point of if hardly amounting to anything.  Apparently I don't owe enough to justify a payment option, but I personally don't have enough to pay it off so they are about to "levy my assets" which is a really nice way of saying they are about to take money out of my bank account by force.  This is quit a dramatic event for a guy who literally lives paycheck to paycheck.  And I mean that in the most extreme way.

So here's my deal. I beg for money on my website here in order to pay off our lovely government and in turn whoever donates at least $10 will have their choice of any 1 of my heads or parts.  The only thing this is going to exclude will be my beefy legs but only because they use up a load of resin.  Everything else is up for grabs.  Just leave a note during the donation process through Paypal about what part or head you want along with your shipping info and I'll get it shipped out to you ASAP!

I've come to realize that in order to get through this I've had to humble myself somewhat which is way out of my comfort zone because I've always considered people that solicit online as scammers or lazy or other.   Those of you who know me one on one know what kind of person I am and know what I'm all about though so I'm asking any and all of you to please give me a hand with this.  I will be forever grateful and in debt to each and every one of you.  Let the begging begin!
So what's new along the lines of customs with Black Kryptonite?  Funny you should ask.  This year I'll be redoing a lot of my old favorite molds like Dr Fate (expect to see a wicked new fin! sneak peek), my hollow Remco torso is getting the new mold treatment and will be joined by a nicely modified He-Man torso!  I spent a little time on this baby, just wait to you see it.  I build up the tops of the shoulders so upper arms will now rest on either side in a more natural position.  The angle in which that torso has made arms jet out from each side has always bothered me.  I will also be offering a new and improved Heroic Type 2 Pelvis, new beefy swivel biceps, some new hand sets, and some other goodies that I'll talk about later on.  Be on the lookout for some possible head/other accessory combos like my Klaw head and hand set, as well.  So keep checking back here and at the Mego Museum for my updates.  Hopefully this whole IRS thing will pass over and I'll be back to 100% operational capacity ASAP!  Thanks for all the well wishes and concerns people, and God bless!  BLK
November 6 , 2007 - Sorry for the lack of updates, folks.  Real life is smoking me these days. So I've been doing more parts selling than customizing or sculpting but a million thanks to all you people out there that are buying my stuff!  More good stuff along the way including some neat Hulk body mods.

I really good customer of mine just sent me a pic of his newly finished Dr. Fate using my JLU style Fate head.  Check it out:

Real good stuff!  Please send me photos of your custom using my parts.  I'd love to get enough together to open a customer gallery so don't forget!  Email to fredgoodspeed@gmail.com
August 29 , 2007 -  Well it seems like everyone these days has their own version of an 8" Mego style action figure so here's mine too.   All the parts are based off a Mego Type 2 body so you've got all the same connections and the same articulation for those of you who dig that funky jazz.  If you want one just email me and let me know but it might take a few day for me to get it together because i still haven't devised a way to put these things together quickly! Anyway, check it out in WIPS.
August 27 , 2007 - I had a chance to get a few more things done this weekend.  All of which you can check out as usual in WIPS.

I want to give a special thanks out to all you guys and gals that are keeping me in business with this hobby.  Your orders are really helping out right now.
August 23 , 2007 - 2 updates in just as many days?  Don't count on anymore for a while:)  Here's this torso I'm working on for characters that are more muscular than average.  Like say your Bains and your Atom Smashers.... you get the picture.  Heck I'm even thinking i might see how this torso looks using the original Mego Hulk parts with one of my pelvis'.  Check it out here
August 22 , 2007 - Wow, talk about a long time between update huh?  Well at least I finally got a domain name, right?  Anyway, yes I took a break but  yes I'm back so I've been hard at work coming up with some new ideas and putting together some new stuff.

Ever come across a head that is just dying to be kit bashed?  I mean one of those heads that is the perfect scale already and all it needs it a neck plug so you go to work kitting and bashing until you've got something to work with.  Well I've been wanting to have a go at some of the Justice League Unlimited 10" figure heads for some time now  so I got a hold of a Flash from a garage sale that had his poor lightning bolts ripped (or chewed) off and carefully removed his head using the ole boil and pop method. Then i just sculpted some nice wings on either side of his head, added a neck plug with some Apoxie putty and gave him a rubber bath.  Check out the results i

February 21, 2007 - Tell you guys what, my biggest problem with ordering stuff online is that is takes so freakin' long to get to me.  Usually when I order my supplies I expect to get it at least within a week.  Sometimes it takes some of the companies I order from up to a month!  Not acceptable.  So in my quest to find a reliable online supplier I stumbled upon The Engineer Guy's website and decided I'd give them a try since I hadn't tried them before.  They have everything I need for making molds and casting and the prices are pretty good.  I placed an order last Thursday for some Oomoo because I was out and I have several parts to mold.  Well not 5 minutes after I placed my order I get an email from a real person saying my order has been received and it currently waiting to be shipped.  Wow!  I real person and not one of those automated emails:)  Anyway, by the end of the day I had received another email from that same real person telling me the order had been shipped.  My order made it to me that following Monday so I emailed the guy letting him know I had received my order and I was grateful that he had made things so easy.  So if any of you are looking for a quick and reliable source for molding and casting supplies you should check this site out.  You won't be disappointed.

I've been really focising on painting over the past month and i just finished a custom Mephisto head for my good friend Paul over at the Mego Museum.  The paint and the hair turned out much better than I expected and I think ole Paul will be really happy with him.  Check it out:

January 26, 2007 - Well, it just never seems to end!  So many project and so little time.  I'm very grateful that so many of you respect what I do enough to get me to help though.  Anyway, during my breaks I still find time to practice and do some minor things for myself which is mostly painting and some sewing.  I had a chance to make a pair of repro pants for my Hulk a couple of nights ago and practice painting some more heads.  I also finally finished an enlarging project of a Joker head I've been working on too and I'm rather pleased with how this guy turned out.  Check them out!

January 16, 2007 - Hey everyone, I've been so busy these days that it's not even funny.  Plenty of projects going on personally and for others.  Anyway, I'm having fun and cranking out some pretty cool stuff for the custom community. Here is just a small portion of some things I'm working:

December 15, 2006 -  New items added to the shop Merry Christmas!

November 16, 2006 -  New site goes live!
Welcome aboard all.  i decided to revert back to my previous design on the site which was put up right before I got in to customizing back in May of this year.  Why?  Well, I dig the look and it didn't get used for very long so I'm giving it a second chance.  I'll keep updates posted on the homepage with the additional links at the top for checking out some of my latest projects, finished customs and a links page to all the other great customizers and custom shop out there.  So I'll probably be making updates a couple times a week so keep checking back!  BLK
